Elvis Presley’s Peacock Jumpsuit Sells for $300,000

Elvis favorite jumpsuit, “The Peacock” was sold in an online auction.

Prior to this the most ever paid previously for one of his stage costumes, the so-called aloha cape, which was worn during one of his last television shows, was $105,250. Both were sold at a 1999 auction at Graceland in Memphis, Tenn., run by Guernsey’s.

Elvis Karaoke Contest On MySpace!

Hey thanks for stopping by my blog today!

I’m sorry about the short notice but I just found out about the Elvis karaoke contest MySpace is running.

They’re giving away

    a trip for two to Graceland and a bunch of other prizes

BUT songs have to be submitted before tomorrow MONDAY Aug, 3 at 3 PM Pacific time!

Before any entry or song is considered for the drawing it must have at least 100 listens.

Anything under that will not be considered for the contest.

1. Elvis loved the movie “Patton” starring George C Scott. Reportedly he knew every word and every scene.

2. Elvis staff kept scrapbooks of every article and newspaper clipping they found of him. From time to time he would drop in to see what was being written about him.

3. Elvis 1973 Hawaii concert was seen by more people than Neil Armstrong’s first walk on the moon.

4. Elvis first movie was “Love Me Tender” and released by 20th Century Fox. They were so certain it was going to be a hit that they actually made more prints of the movie, for theaters, than any other film in the company’s history. They printed 575 copies of the movie

Today, Jan 8th, is Elvis Presley’s birthday.

Elvis would celebrate his 73rd birthday today if not for that unfortunate day over 30 years ago on August 16th, 1977.

Around the world however the greatest fans of any entertainer continue to keep his memory alive.

Also I feel his legacy has continued burning bright because of the wonderful job his estate has been doing over the past 25 years.

As is tradition this time of year you’ll be able to find Elvis specials, Elvis movies and Elvis events happening on television, radio and the internet from around the world today.

Yesterday as I was reflecting over my years of being an Elvis fan I wondered….
