1. Elvis loved the movie “Patton” starring George C Scott. Reportedly he knew every word and every scene.
2. Elvis staff kept scrapbooks of every article and newspaper clipping they found of him. From time to time he would drop in to see what was being written about him.
3. Elvis 1973 Hawaii concert was seen by more people than Neil Armstrong’s first walk on the moon.
4. Elvis first movie was “Love Me Tender” and released by 20th Century Fox. They were so certain it was going to be a hit that they actually made more prints of the movie, for theaters, than any other film in the company’s history. They printed 575 copies of the movie
5. Elvis loved sports. His favorites were football followed by karate and racqetball.
6. Elvis played defensive end on his high school football team The Humes High Tigers.
7. Elvis arranged for Lisa Marie Presley to meet her idol, Elton John, on her 7th birthday
8. Some of Elvis favorite actors were Peter Sellers and Clint Eastwood.
9. Two of Elvis favorite movies were “Dr. Strangelove” and “A Shot In The Dark” both starring Peter Sellers.
10. When the Presley’s first moved to Memphis they resided at Lauderdale Courts on Winchester Street.
11. Elvis had a pet chimpanzee named Scatter. Friends say Scatter would get drunk and wonder around the neighborhood near Graceland. Reportedly Scatter would also reek havoc at some of Elvis parties.
12. Elvis friends and entourage were paid around $250 a week just to be on call to the king.
13. Elvis went to the White House unannounced to meet President Richard Nixon to offer his services as a narcotics agent. picture
14. Elvis Presley enjoyed collecting guns. He also presented President Nixon with a commemorative firearm on his trip to the white house.
15. Elvis performed on the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville in 1955 singing on stage with country singer Hank Snow.
16. Upon Elvis return from the army his first act as a civilian was to hold a press conference at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
17. Elvis broke his little finger during a touch football game at Graceland in 1960.
18. Elvis dated Hollywood starlet Anita, Natalie Wood, and sent her a diamond ring surrounded by
18 sapphires while he was stationed in Germany.
19. The first radio station to ever play an Elvis Presley record was WHBQ in Memphis.
20. The first disc jockey to play that record was WHBQ Memphis disc jockey Dewey Phillips.
